Art from the Heart
Giving under served children of Marin County the opportunity to be actively involved in the arts

Art from the Heart is a 501© (3) non-profit organization reaching out to children of low-income, under-served families in Marin County by providing after-school enrichment programs. Our program gives children the opportunity to be actively involved in the arts – they become the artist, the performer, and the audience member!

We introduce a wide variety of art forms to our students hoping to ignite a love and appreciation of the arts. Our students have the opportunity to become active participants engaging in hands-on art projects. Many have not had the chance to experience dance, drama, art, song, or attend a live performance – Art From the Heart makes this all possible.

Who Are the Artists

Art From the Heart works with over 350 Marin County children from the Novato Children Center, Old Gallinas Child Care Center, San Pedro Elementary School, Side by Side’s Irene M. Hunt School, and the North Marin Community Services. Many of our sites are primarily State funded. Sadly these budgets do not include resources for enrichment programs such as the arts.

How We Do It

We are funded by individuals and organizations who believe and support our mission of bringing the arts to life for under-served children. We continuously focus on researching and cultivating additional potential funding sources.

We work closely with Marin Community Child Development Centers, Community Action Marin, Side by Side’s Irene M. Hunt School, and the North Marin Community Services. Our plan is to expand our art program to reach other organizations servicing Marin County children in need.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

" We have witnessed our students develop their hidden talents and grow their self-esteem...Our students are residents of St. Vincent’s School for Boys, having been taken away from families due to abuse and neglect, and our budget prohibits the quality of enrichment provided by Art From the Heart.

Our teachers also reap the benefits of this program. New topics for discussion and exploration are provided, the mood of the students and staff is lifted, and here at school, where we take one day at time, a day with Art From the Heart is always a good day. "
